Unreal Engine Pond
In our UE scene we have a small pond which I was responsible for making. I started by placing the rocks I made earlier around the pond. But I quickly realised that my rocks didn't look flat enough - typically pond rock are quite flat. Therefore I went back and modelled some rocks that would be more suitable to decorate my pond. (Please note that half of them were modelled by Emily)
However once I put my rocks into UE with the texture I noticed that my height/bump map didn't look how I thought it would. In substance painter I tried to make indents in the model but when I applied the texture in UE, it looks like it had the opposite effect and added the marks 'on top' of my model. Therefore I decided to ditch the height map because it looked more stylised without the rough texture on the rock.
Once I placed the rocks in my scene I moved onto making the water shader. It was surprisingly a lot easier than I thought and did not have any trouble making it - although I did struggle with getting the blue colour to show until I managed to find the right setting to adjust.
Then applied the material to an image plane and placed it where I water the waterline to be. Finally, I added some water lilies to the surface as a finishing touch.
