Sem 2 Week 1

Schedule

To ensure that my partner and I can don't fall behind or continue to stay organised in semester 2, we made a 12 week schedule. We are saving week 13/14 as back up weeks if anything goes wrong but ideally we are aiming to have our project finished by week 12. We didn't want to drag our schedule out to week 13/14 in case we started to think "ooh we have time" and leave things to last minute. We also have a gantt chart to display our semester 2 schedule

3D Environment - Asset List

On After Emily and I sorted out the final concept for our 3d environment, she wrote a list of all the assets we will need to model and designated the roles. Then I organised this information into a check list which will allow us to easily track our work and clearly see what still needs to be done.

Pool Float Model

One asset that I have to model is a realistic pool floatie for the bear. I started by modelling the basic shape in Maya but quickly realised it looked a little to plain. After looking at some references I figured out that I still needed to add some wrinkles along the seem line. Therefore next week I will take my model into Zbrush and sculpted some wrinkles to significantly enhance the realism.

Finished Tracking/3D Layout

There were 2-3 scenes I was struggling to track in Nuke because the tracking geo wouldn't export to Maya properly. After much trial and error I decided it was best to try a different approach and stabilise my shots instead. Fortunately the 3 scenes were static shots anyway so stabilising them wasn't too difficult. Then once I put my stabilised shots into Maya it was very quick setting up the 3d layout and lighting.

Cleaning Up Mocap Data

Last semester we filmed some MOCAP data we intended to use for most of the bear animations. This week I finally managed to clean up all our data in Cortex so it will be ready to apply to our rigged character in Motion builder.
